Glenda has been part of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary for 10 years now. She actually took the Charter paperwork for the Charlotte County Unit to Denver, Colorado in 1999 during the MCL/MCLA National Convention to have it signed by Gurvis McNulty, MCLA National President at that time. She was the first President of the Unit and then she transferred to Gulf Coast Unit in Nokomis. In 2007 the Charlotte Unit was almost ready to turn in it’s Charter. There were only 2 members that were still trying to work as volunteers at the Commercial Bingo and these 2 were in poor health. The Department of Florida MCLA asked Glenda to consider coming back to help. It was a very difficult time and the 2 members, Flo Daly ( Unit President, at the time) and Linda Allen both passed away before the Unit got back on it’s feet. Glenda has served as Department President and is the National Assistant Chaplain. She also serves on the National Rehab. Committee and Chairs the Workshop Committee.   Charlotte County Unit has 13 members and one new member will go on the rolls by September 15th, 2009. We are ready to donate monies to help our Marine Veterans and have given $1,000.oo to the Jacobson Nursing Home. Because our Treasurer, Pat Mastowski and her Husband Hank, volunteer so faithfully at the Bingo under the MCL Detachment 756 the Auxiliary has been able to be put back on as one of the Charities.

Our meetings are at the Jacobson Veterans Nursing home the 4th. Tuesday of each month at 2:30 PM.

Feel free to call Glenda Travis  627-6040 for membership info and any questions you might have.
